Ways to remove acne scars

Mild and moderate forms of acne don’t leave behind scars, but the severe forms do. That is why immediate treatment of acne is important, but once a scar is there it is there for good. There are now many ways to remove acne scars, but to do so you need to see a dermatologist or other experienced doctor.

Almost all of the acne scar removal techniques can be done in the doctor’s practice, but there are different recovery times. One of the easiest methods of getting rid of severe scarring is through laser resurfacing. This involves a laser actually removing the outermost skin layer that was damaged. The middle layer, on the other hand, is firmed so that the skin has a smooth, flawless appearance. The procedure takes less than an hour to complete, but the skin will take anywhere from three to ten days to heal.

There is also the fractional laser therapy which is effective for deep scars. It is also less problematic because the outer skin layer is not harmed at all which means there is almost no recovery time at all. Although it is one of the best ways to remove acne scars, it is also the most expensive since you have to pay for it yourself.

Dermabrasion is another way that acne scars can be removed. This is done with an instrument that has either a rotating wire brush or spinning diamond. The top layer of skin with the scarring is sanded down so that new skin grows and smoothes the skin. This method has the longest recovery time after the procedure and you can expect for healing to take up to three weeks.
